During November, Pivotal Scientific will once again be attending the annual Society for Neuroscience (SfN) meeting, which this year will take place in Washington, DC. This will be the 47th SfN meeting and represents the world’s largest neuroscience conference for scientists and physicians devoted to understanding the brain and nervous system. With over 30,000 registered attendees from more than 80 countries, it is one of the most highly anticipated scientific networking events in the calendar.

SfN, founded in 1969, is a non-profit organisation with a current membership of approximately 38,000. Its mission is to bring together scientists of diverse backgrounds, facilitating the integration of research and encouraging the application of new scientific knowledge to develop improved disease treatments and cures. It provides professional development activities, information, and educational resources for neuroscientists at all career stages, and also promotes public information and general education about the nature of scientific discovery and the results and implications of the latest neuroscience research.

There are a multitude of reasons for attending the SfN meeting, not least the opportunities afforded for neuroscientists to collaborate and network with peers. With an extensive range of lectures, symposia and scientific poster sessions, the meeting provides an excellent forum for sharing knowledge and expertise and is held in a venue carefully chosen to promote interaction and discussion. Throughout SfN, researchers and clinicians can discuss emerging and unpublished findings, debate the pros and cons of different laboratory techniques or procedures and learn about the many and varied ways in which research across the field is advancing. The meeting also affords the chance for researchers to form mutually beneficial collaborations, and to explore a wide range of career paths and professional development prospects.

With over 600 exhibitors, including commercial companies, research publishers, non-profit organisations and NIH institutes, SfN showcases the newest and most popular products, technologies and services to aid neuroscientists in their research. Pivotal Scientific works closely with many of these exhibitors, and the meeting offers the perfect environment for us to introduce to one another potential new distributors, OEM partners, suppliers, investors or customers. We have initiated and nurtured many productive and long-lasting relationships at events such as SfN, and hope to further our successes at this year’s meeting. The SfN meeting is also a fantastic event at which we can continue to grow awareness of the PSL Alliance, as well as recruiting new members.

The PSL Alliance consists of companies which need support growing their sales. With four tiers available, membership of the PSL Alliance offers a wealth of benefits including, but not limited to, B2B introductions, competitor analysis, sales and marketing audits, distributor management, and assistance with SEO, social media and design services. Many current PSL Alliance members will be present at SfN 2017, and we look forward to seeing you there – please contact us should you wish to arrange a meeting.
