To build upon our already comprehensive knowledge, Pivotal Scientific Ltd welcomes a new team member in Sian Bolitho PhD as our Scientific Officer. Sian joins us with 18 years’ experience working in commercial roles within life science companies, including distribution, antibody manufacture and supply. She has worked with companies globally and brings an understanding of how companies within the network operate and their strengths.
Sian has a broad background in biological sciences; initially graduating from Bangor University with a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography. An early career change led Sian to work for a plant breeding company, specialising in the breeding of Oil Seed Rape for the UK agriculture sector. Sponsored by her employer, she gained an MSc in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, leading on to a PhD in Plant Molecular Genetics from the University of East Anglia and John Innes Centre. With the depression in agriculture of the early 2000’s, Sian transitioned to work for a life science distributor and a passion for commercial science was born.
Sian has worked predominantly as a product and commercial manager for the last 18 years. Her focus has always been to identify cutting edge technology, applications and novel scientific companies, working with them to present their products to the wider research and IVD markets. With a skillset focused on bringing these technologies to new markets and working to build diverse, integrated portfolios for platforms, Sian’s experience, combined with her scientific knowledge, places her well to work within our expanding Mergers & Acquisitions team.
To our Mergers and Acquisitions team, Sian brings her technical expertise, allowing us to further broaden our capabilities in specialist commercial due diligence from a scientific perspective in RUO & IVD. Her combined scientific and commercial knowledge add to our already extensive knowledge of the marketplace and companies operating therein, enabling us to present excellent fits on both Buy Side and Sell Side to clients looking either to exit or to build on their existing platform through acquisition.
